Country Montessori School is a non-profit 5013c who provides authentic Montessori education to students 2.5 years of age to through the 5th grade. The school was established in 1989 by a group of teachers and parents.who wanted an alternative to traditional school.
The school today is governed by the Board of Directors which include the Head of School, Parents and Teachers. The expenses for the school are covered by the tuition and fundraising by the parents is used to improve the infrastructure of the school. Recent additions have been new shade structures in the playground and wood play structures.
The school follows an authentic Montessori curriculum with the addition of Spanish and music in the Early Childhood classrooms and Spanish, music, technology, physical education and art in the Elementary classrooms.
The school has a wide cultural and ethnic diversity and many children speak second languages, The parent participation program means that families can contribute to the school in many different ways.
The school is proud of the long serving faculty. Three faculty have over 10 years service, ten have over ten years and the average tenure of faculty and staff is 10 years.
CMS is a full member of the American Montessori Society. The school was chosen by AMS in 2017 as a model school for a school tour showcasing Montessori education.
