North San Diego Business Chamber Mourns the Loss of Chairman David Shields

San Diego, CA – January 22, 2025 – The North San Diego Business Chamber announces with deep sorrow the sudden passing of David Shields, Chairman of the Board, on January 21, 2025. David was the Founder and CEO of Component Surfaces, a leading provider of comprehensive plating solutions established in 2004.
 
A U.S. Navy veteran, David was a dedicated leader in the San Diego business community, serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors since 2021 and as Chairman since 2023. His commitment to fostering business growth and community development was unwavering.
 
Beyond his professional endeavors, David was a loving husband to his wife, Karen, and a devoted father to his daughter Kristin Strasser Sheddy, and proud grandfather to his three grandchildren.  He had an infectious smile and laugh, a passion for sailing, enjoyed attending San Diego Padres games, and valued staying active through regular workouts.
 
A memorial service to honor David's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at Hope United Methodist Church, 16550 Bernardo Heights Parkway, San Diego, CA 92128.
 
The Chamber extends its deepest condolences to the Shields family during this difficult time. David's visionary leadership and genuine friendship will be profoundly missed.
