The designation, awarded to just 3% of local Chambers nationwide, is given by the U.S. Chamber in recognition of "sound policies, effective organizational procedures and positive impact on the community. "

News of the prestigious accreditation was announced earlier this week.

"There are only six accredited Chambers in the state of California with ours being the only organization in San Diego County to receive this accreditation," said Debra Rosen, president and CEO of the North San Diego Business Chamber. "Without our valued members and sound policies, this renewal of the accreditation would not have been possible."

California-accredited Chambers include Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, Irvine Chamber of Commerce, North San Diego Business Chamber, Palmdale Chamber of Commerce, Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce and Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The North San Diego Business Chamber was first incorporated in 1980 as Rancho Bernardo Chamber of Commerce. In 2005, Rancho Bernardo Chamber merged with Diamond Gateway Chamber to form San Diego North Chamber of Commerce.

In 2014, the organization re-branded itself with a new logo, name and look to become North San Diego Business Chamber, which currently reaches over 800 businesses throughout North County, advocating on their behalf on the local, regional, state and federal levels.

Stacey Hrountas, CEO of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers, serves as the Chamber's 2021-22 board chair.
