North San Diego Business Chamber Announces Transition to San Diego Business Chamber

North San Diego Business Chamber Announces Transition to San Diego Business Chamber — Organization representing more than 800 businesses and organizations adopts new name aligned with mission and long-term growth.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 24, 2026) – The North San Diego Business Chamber announced today it will become the San Diego Business Chamber, a new name that reflects the organization's evolution into a countywide business advocacy and leadership organization, serving more than 800 businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies throughout San Diego.

The new name follows the adoption of the Chamber’s 2025-2028 Strategic Plan and better reflects the organization it has become today. While the Chamber’s roots remain strong in North County, its membership, partnerships, advocacy efforts, and programming have expanded significantly over the past decade.

As the only 5-Star Accredited Chamber of Commerce in San Diego and one of only five accredited chambers statewide, the Chamber has evolved into one of the region's leading business organizations. Representing more than 800 businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies that collectively employ more than 300,000 people, the Chamber convenes leaders, advances economic prosperity, and strengthens the local business climate through initiatives such as Operation Connect, Leadership Academy, advisory councils, and business events.

“This is not a change in who we are,” said Chris Thorne, CEO of the San Diego Business Chamber. “It is a recognition of who we already are. For years, we have served businesses across a wide range of industries and communities, and the name San Diego Business Chamber simply reflects that reality. As our membership, partnerships, and impact have grown, it became important that our name reflect the full scope of the community we serve. While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: empowering businesses, creating communities, and helping build a prosperous and vibrant future for San Diego.”

Founded in 1980, the Chamber has continuously evolved to meet the needs of the business community it serves. The transition to San Diego Business Chamber represents the next chapter in that growth while maintaining the organization's longstanding mission to advocate for business success, cultivate leadership, and serve as a catalyst for economic opportunity.

The Chamber officially unveiled its new name and brand identity during its annual Celebration of Business event on June 24 at Elephant Valley at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, bringing together business leaders, elected officials, community partners, and members from throughout San Diego.
