What products or services does your business provide?

Higher education and continuing education for adult learners via our 100% online courses. We have educational alliances and partnerships with organizations and business that support the advancement of their employees, at no cost to the organization. Our alliances are designed to bridge the gap between school and district needs and employee skills through higher education.

Our corporate partnerships focus on improving workforce performance, with an emphasis on offering higher education and professional development opportunities. Strategic Educational Alliances (SEA) support public, private and charter schools in addition to alternative educational establishments such as independent agencies and home schools.

What was the most memorable or successful moment in your business' history?

GCU's transition back to a non-profit institution, which provided faculty and students with equitable opportunities to:

  • Participate in academic and co-curricular opportunities with peer institutions
  • Operate a philanthropic foundation
  • Provide grant writing and research opportunities for faculty and students
  • Invest in educational infrastructure
  • Allow the university to continue offering tuition at levels that make private higher education affordable to all Americans despite socio-economic class
  • Continue to invest in the communities where the university serves
  • Permit student athletes to participate in governance opportunities afforded by the NCAA

Tell us an interesting fact about your business.

We are one of the sole universities to have local University development counselors. These local counselors work to establish relationships with a variety of employers, including schools and districts, government agencies, hospitals and community colleges, to improve workforce performance. Our degree programs encourage you to think critically, lead effectively and demonstrate best practices appropriately.

In efforts to attract a diverse student population, we also offer workshops and resources to assist with the student enrollment process. University development counselors and campus representatives offer consultations and can discuss career and academic goals with your staff. Courses are offered in flexible formats - allowing a balance between home, college and work.

What tips/advice can you offer that is related to your business' industry?

One of the most effective ways organizations are attracting and retaining top talent is through offering educational benefits. The benefits include: reduced turnover, increased productivity, and additional corporate tax breaks. Our educational alliances allow employees of our partners to gain scholarships to GCU's programs, that can be coupled with their current tuition benefits.
