What we’re looking for:
We are looking for energetic, hardworking, client focused, tech savvy, funster to join our Super Star Engineering & DevOps Team. Under guidance and supervision of the Senior Software Engineer Architect and Director of Engineering and DEVOPS, you will assist with all functions of software development and design. Standard responsibilities include but are not limited to development, documentation, testing, deployment, and support of NLI’s custom software solutions, connectivity with vendors, and custom integrations. This position will work effectively with internal departments to ensure developed solutions meet all needs.
What you’ll need:
Education & Experience
  • 4+ years’ experience with frontend and backend programming in a language such as: Ruby, Python, Node/JS, C/C++, Java, or PHP 
  • Bachelor’s degree relating to Computer Science or IT or equivalent work experience in software development

Qualifications & Key Skills
  • Acts with integrity in dealing with customers and co-workers; not afraid to do the right thing; takes responsibility for mistakes and achievements; treats others in a respectful manner.
  • Familiarity with web development standards and best practices including MVC and REST
  • Experience using Git or a similar revision control system
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases. PostgreSQL/MySQL preferred
  • Linux operating system use, scripting, and management
  • Experience with web server software. Apache/Nginx preferred
  • Ability to follow-through, while using good judgment
  • Demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of internal and external clients
  • Willingness to function as an effective team member and cooperate in the accomplishment of department goals and objectives
  • Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of NLI’s business standards, policies & procedures to complete work in compliance of these
  • Ability to exercise discretion and to independently perform job responsibilities
  • Strong work ethic, performance / results driven, and demonstrates loyalty and commitment
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality

What you’ll do:
  • Review and analyze business needs and specifications to determine programming requirements for new and existing software projects
  • Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology
  • Maintain existing software programs and make approved changes
  • Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies
  • Write and maintain documentation for software projects
  • Provide training for developed software
  • Develop and implement test plans for new projects, and maintenance of existing projects
  • Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Be available outside of normal business hours to support NLI and its clients.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for engineering escalations.
  • Execute, under only general supervision, special assignments and tasks. 
  • Perform other duties or changed duties as needed or directed.
